Cowboys get a win over the Giants, but it wasnt pretty

Nothing was pretty for |A|
the Dallas Cowboys on |B|
Thursday night. Neither team could |C|
get in a rhythm, |D|
mostly because they both |E|
kept committing penalties. All |F|
of the Cowboys' issues |G|
weren't fixed. They couldn't |H|
run the ball. They |J|
gave up plenty of |K|
yards and many long |L|
drives. The offense didn't |M|
put away the Giants |O|
when it had the |P|
opportunity. Nobody could cover |Q|
New York Giants rookie |R|
receiver Malik Nabers. The |S|
night took a bad |U|
turn late when Micah |V|
Parsons was carted off |Y|
with a left leg |Z|
injury. Dallas can't afford |A|
to be without him |B|
for long. The Parsons injury |C|
is a big concern, |D|
but at least the |E|
Cowboys won. After two |F|
straight miserable losses, the |G|
Cowboys just wanted a |H|
win and it didn't |J|
matter how it happened. |K|
Dallas was able to |L|
get back in the |M|
win column with a |O|
20-15 victory over the |P|
New York Giants in |Q|
a game they won't |R|
remember fondly. But there's a |S|
big difference between 2-2 |U|
and 1-3, and the |V|
Cowboys avoided the latter. Dallas |Y|
hasn't played well on |Z|
either side of the |A|
ball this season, and |B|
it's not like they'll |C|
be thrilled with how |D|
many yards the defense |E|
gave up or zero |F|
second-half touchdowns by the |G|
offense. But just imagine |H|
the alarms that would |J|
be going off if |K|
they lost three in |L|
a row. The |O|
Cowboys had to want |P|
to get right back |Q|
on the field to |R|
get the stink of |S|
Sunday's game off of |U|
them and maybe carry |V|
some of the momentum |Y|
from their fourth-quarter rally |Z|
into Week 4. Then |A|
Dallas started with a |B|
very quick three-and-out. And |C|
on its first defensive |D|
possession, cornerback Anthony Booth |E|
Jr. had his ankles |F|
broken like he was |G|
trying to guard NBA |H|
star Anthony Edwards in |J|
the lane, and no |K|
Cowboys defender was even |L|
on the TV screen |M|
when Nabers caught a |O|
39-yard pass. That set |P|
up a Giants field |Q|
goal, and a Cowboys |R|
penalty on the ensuing |S|
kickoff. Not the start |U|
Dallas was hoping for. The |V|
Cowboys got it going |Y|
after a slow start. |Z|
Rico Dowdle scored on |A|
a screen pass, and |B|
then CeeDee Lamb took |C|
a pass 55 yards |D|
to the end zone |E|
for a touchdown. The |F|
Giants were moving the |G|
ball, including a marathon |H|
drive in the second |J|
quarter, but were getting |K|
only field goals and |L|
not touchdowns. The Cowboys |M|
led 14-9 at the |O|
end of a penalty-filled |P|
first half. The second half, |Q|
somehow, was even uglier |R|
than the first. The |U|
first half and the |V|
second half was similar |Y|
for the Giants. They |Z|
would move he ball, |A|
stall in Cowboys territory |B|
and Greg Joseph would |C|
come on for a |D|
field goal. The Cowboys |E|
weren't doing much, but |F|
they were holding the |G|
Giants out of the |H|
end zone, and a |J|
couple more Joseph field |K|
goals made the score |L|
17-15 in favor of |M|
Dallas. And even though the |O|
Giants didn't have a |P|
touchdown when they got |Q|
the ball back with |R|
6:54 left, they trailed |S|
by less than a |U|
touchdown. The Giants defense, |V|
which allowed the long |Y|
touchdown catch to Lamb |Z|
and not much else, |A|
kept the Cowboys from |B|
putting the game away. |C|
Daniel Jones got the |D|
ball back with a |E|
chance for a game-winning |F|
drive, though the Giants |G|
would have to finally |H|
score a touchdown to |J|
make that happen. The Giants |K|
faced a fourth-and-1 right |L|
away and Brian Daboll |M|
decided to go for |O|
it. Devin Singletary picked |P|
it up on a |Q|
run up the middle. |R|
They went for it |S|
again on fourth-and-6 right |U|
after. Nabers couldn't hang |V|
on to a pass |Y|
with 3:21 left, and |Z|
was injured on the |A|
play as well. The |B|
Giants said he suffered |C|
a concussion. The Giants got |D|
yet another chance in |E|
the final minute. Brandon |F|
Aubrey, who has been |G|
nearly automatic in his |H|
NFL career, missed a |J|
51-yarder with less than |K|
a minute to go. |L|
But Jones threw an |M|
interception on a desperation |O|
pass and the game |P|
was over. If there was |Q|
one positive for the |R|
Cowboys, it's that the |S|
defense was tougher against |U|
the run. That was |V|
a big problem in |Y|
losses to the Saints |Z|
and Ravens. Dallas shut |A|
down the Giants' run |B|
game. It was also |C|
a positive for Lamb |D|
to post 98 yards |E|
on seven catches. The rest |F|
wasn't pretty. It'll be |G|
even worse if Parsons' |H|
injury is serious.Cowboys start slow |M|

don't get many points
