Kyren Williams to serve as the Rams new punt returner for 2024

After a day |A| full of league wide |B| roster changes, the Los |C| Angeles Rams announced one |D| move that seems to |E| have upset some fans, |F| and surprisingly, it has |G| nothing to do with |H| the trade of MLB |J| Ernest Jones.

The Athletics Jourdan |K| Rodrigue is reporting that |L| head coach Sean McVay |M| has confirmed that starting |O| running back Kyren Williams |P| will take over punt |Q| return duties for 2024.

|R| dir="ltr">Its a head scratching |S| move considering Williams expected |U| role as the teams |V| RB1 heading into the |Y| first week of the |Z| year. Wide receiver Xavier |A| Smith, who handled punt |B| return duties for Los |C| Angeles during the preseason, |D| was cut earlier today |E| as the Rams trimmed |F| the roster down to |G| 53 leaving many to |H| question who would be |J| returning kicks. Even with |K| the roster cuts, LA |L| seemed to have other |M| feasible options outside of |O| Williams to return kicks |P| like the speedster Tutu |Q| Atwell, although he too |R| has been rumored to |S| be a trade candidate |U| recently.

Something else to |V| consider is that Williams |Y| has already had a |Z| vast injury history in |A| his short career solely |B| playing at the running |C| back position. The third-year |D| back missed most of |E| his rookie season with |F| a broken foot and |G| severe high ankle sprain. |H| He also was forced |J| out of four games |K| last year, spending time |L| on IR with another |M| major high ankle sprain. |O| He then broke his |P| hand in the teams |Q| final game of the |R| 2023 season.

McVay stated |S| Tuesday that the reason |U| the team made this |V| decision was because they |Y| wanted “another way” to |Z| give Williams touches and |A| help the team, adding |B| that he feels comfortable |C| using Williams on special |D| teams in this fashion |E| because of their confidence |F| in backup running backs |G| Blake Corum and Ronnie |H| Rivers.

If theres a |J| way to look at |K| this with a glass |L| half full approach, the |M| move does seem to |O| really speaks to the |P| confidence the Rams coaching |Q| staff has in their |R| third-round rookie running back. |S| Corum, who did not |U| play a single snap |V| in the preseason, is |Y| expected to have a |Z| large role on offense |A| splitting carries with Williams.
